A Friend in Need, Inc. relies on volunteers to help us fulfill our mission. Volunteers make it all happen - from organizing fundraisers to gathering school supplies and stuffing backpacks - we can't do it without volunteers.
Volunteers made our summer fundraiser happen! A Photographer donated her time and talents. A graphic designer made the logo and invites for free. Businesses donated raffle items. Volunteers picked up those raffle items. The food, beverage and location were all donated. Volunteers set up the tables and displays. Volunteers sold raffle tickets, collected donations, and helped with clean up.
It doesn’t matter how much or how little or how big or how small. We can always use your talent, time & ideas.
How will you make a difference?

AFIN: With your busy job, how do you find time to volunteer?
BL: Well, I just do. I feel that helping the kids and families is more important than my day-to-day issues. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about my next meal or if I will make it through another day. So whenever I can do something for AFIN I do it.
AFIN: How did you first get involved with AFIN?
BL: I knew someone who was working on huts for an AFIN fundraiser and I volunteered to help. That was 3 years ago & we're still using those huts today.
AFIN: Those huts really make AFIN fundraisers special. What's your most memorable fundraiser?
BL: We held a fundraiser at the Kemper Center. We literally had a small village by the time we were done. It was pretty cool to see what all the volunteers were able to build with what little supplies we had.
AFIN: Any thoughts for the next AFIN fundraiser?
BL: Something fun where I can build something again!! I have given myself the title of "builder" in the group and while others come up with the ideas I do what I can to bring them to life. I will do whatever I can to help with any event big or small.
AFIN: What can you tell people who may be thinking of volunteering with AFIN?
BL: Do it! AFIN has brought me a lot of happiness, knowing I am doing good and helping others who can't help themselves. Not to mention all the incredible people I have had the joy of getting to know.
